Posted on 06/10/20

The BAHA Board sends our best wishes to all as we continue to follow LA City guidelines for staying healthy and safe.

***Sepulveda Blvd. Resurfacing *** Los Angeles Department of Public Works will be resurfacing a portion of Sepulveda Blvd. in the Sepulveda Pass during the week of June 8-14. Traffic will be impacted. During the week days of June 8-12, the hours of work will be 6:30 am to 4:00 pm. For the weekend of June 13-14, the hours of work will be 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. For additional information contact Aida Valencia, Bureau of Street Services, 818-756-8651.

***BAHA’s Board of Directors for 2020-2021*** Due to Covid-19, the Annual Members’ Meeting of Bel Air Hills Association that was to be held during May, 2020, had to be cancelled. Thus, the existing Directors continue to serve and by the unanimous vote of the remaining Directors, elected 5 new Directors to replace resigning Directors. Your BAHA Board members are:

*Houman Arasteh

*Morrie Glickman

*Robin Greenberg

*Shermeen Greenmun

*Jacquie Kahn

*Inta Kipper

*Richard Kipper

*Charlie McAndrew

*Wendy Morris

*Patricia Templeton

***BAHA Dues *** For those of you who have not yet renewed your membership in BAHA, please considering doing so now. It is so easy to do. Just go to https://www.baha.la and pay your dues online. Or, if you prefer, you can always mail your check to BAHA, 2337 Roscomare Road, #2-228, Los Angeles, CA 90077. The dues are suggested at $200 per year and the minimum is $175 per year. BAHA welcomes all local homeowners, renters and business owners as members! If you have not yet become a member, we hope you will make the decision to support your neighborhood association.

***BAHA Volunteers *** BAHA functions through the efforts of unpaid volunteers. But we need more of our neighbors to volunteer some of their time to help our committees perform their various tasks. Current committees are:

*Architecture

*BAHA Kids

*Beautification

*Communication

*Emergency Preparation

*Membership

*Security

*Technology

*Traffic

We are particularly looking for existing and/or new members that can help us with architecture and technology issues. But we welcome, and need, help on any of the committees listed. Please let us know of your willingness to volunteer some of your time to help your community by emailing us at [email protected]. Thank you.

***Emergency Notices from the City of Los Angeles *** As a reminder, you can subscribe to NotifyLA, a service of the City of Los Angeles, to get urgent notifications from the City in the event of local emergencies. In addition to emergency alerts about curfews which are handy these days, fire season is starting and NotifyLA can help you get alerted about evacuations in the event of a fire. Here is the link: https://emergency.lacity.org/notifyla. You can also subscribe to Nixle, https://www.nixle.com which will allow you receive alerts from local law enforcement and other agencies using Nixle in the 90077 zip code area.

***2020 U.S. Census *** Please don’t forget to submit your 2020 Census information. It is very easy at https://2020census.gov. The census counts determine our representation in government. If fewer people complete the 2020 census than did in 2010, we will have fewer federal and state representatives.

***Walk Against Traffic *** More and more of our neighbors are out walking. This is a very good thing. However, there is still traffic out there. As a safety reminder, since there are limited sidewalks in our area, try to walk on the side of the street which would have you walking against traffic. So much easier to avoid oncoming vehicles.

***Party House Problem*** BAHA works directly with LAPD on numerous issues throughout the year. If you see or hear a party that you believe is too large, or too loud when it is already late in the evening, please call 1-877-ASK-LAPD. That way the radio calls for service will be documented and LAPD and the City Attorney can pull a record of the calls when they are needed for prosecution and abatement. Keep calling until a) the disturbance ceases, or b) the officers break up the party or c) the officers post a notice of citation on the door. The citation is what kicks off the escalating penalties under the ordinance and the officers may only issue a warning the first time they respond to the residence that night.
