***Annual Membership Drive***    In early January, 2021, notices will go out to all residents requesting that they renew their membership or consider joining BAHA.  We hope that our efforts on behalf of the community of Bel Air Hills will encourage you, for a modest membership fee, to renew your membership or to join BAHA so that we can continue to work on behalf of our neighborhood.  With your email address we are able to send you Newsbites and other important neighborhood information.  With Newsbites we try to keep our community informed about BAHA activities.  For much more information about BAHA, and to renew or join now, please go to our website at https://www.baha.la.

***BAHA'S Security Committee***    In our July, 2020 Newsbites, we highlighted some of the accomplishments of our Traffic Committee.  In this edition of Newsbites, we would like to highlight a very significant accomplishment of our Security Committee, which is Co-Chaired by Board members Houman Arasteh and Patricia Templeton. We are happy to report that, after extensive research of available options, BAHA has contracted with a national company for the lease and installation of three advanced technology security cameras at strategic points in our neighborhood.  BAHA is grateful to Houman and Patricia for undertaking this effort to improve security in Bel Air Hills, especially as crime has increased in our neighborhood since the advent of GPS mapping programs and COVID (although our neighborhood is still a low crime area of Los Angeles). For a description of the cameras and policies on how the process will work please visit https://www.baha.la/security-camera-policy.php.  BAHA would like to install more of these cameras, but for that to be possible we will need additional BAHA members. So please renew (or join if you are not a member) and encourage your neighbors to do so as well.

***Roscomare Road Street Improvement***    As we reported in the November issue of Newsbites, the Forestry Department was to remove the trees in the 2600 block of Roscomare Road.  This has now been done.  The next step will be for the City to repave the roadway from Hamner to BelCanto, and they have advised us that the money has already been allocated.  The repaving will hopefully be done during December with adequate notice provided to us which we will send out to you.  This work will finally eliminate a serious traffic hazard on Roscomare Road.  Again, this accomplishment was due to the hard work of the BAHA Traffic Committee.

***Blood Drive with Free COVID Antibody Test***   The Bel Air Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council is partnering with TreePeople on a blood drive for Cedars Sinai.  All donors get a free COVID antibody test!  December 6, 10 am - 4 pm at 12601 Mulholland Drive.  Please go to www.baha.la for more information and the links to sign up or to find out if you are eligible.

***LAPD Toy Drive***    Our local LAPD West LA Community Police Station is hosting a toy drive for the benefit of children in need in the West LA area. Due to COVID restrictions, toy drop-off is by appointment only, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3pm to 7pm at 1645 Corinth Ave (the rear of the West LA Municipal building).  Toys must be new, unopened, unwrapped and easy to sanitize.  Please email Officer Espin at [email protected] to set up a drop-off appointment to bring some joy to a child in need this holiday season. You can see the flyer at www.baha.la.

***BAHA gives Thanks***    On Thanksgiving Day BAHA took 10 fabulous pies from our local bakery, Joanie and Leigh's Cakes, along with some whipped cream, festive plates and napkins, etc. and a poster we made that showed all the streets in BAHAland with a photo of most of the current board members, to our West LAPD station. We thanked all who were there, and Captain Tom by email, for their service to our community. All the officers there were very appreciative of our gratitude and the pies!

***Happy Holidays***   The Board of Directors of the Bel Air Hills Association wishes all of our residents happy and safe Holidays.  We hope you will enjoy the holiday lights at our little local park at the south end of Roscomare Road.  In past years, BAHA invited the community to join us at the park to enjoy the tree lighting ceremony and meet neighbors, while enjoying hot apple cider, cookies and conversations.  Regrettably, Covid-19 restrictions won’t allow us to do that this year, but we’re looking forward to it next year!
