***THIS SUNDAY***   is the 3rd Annual Westside Safety and Preparedness Fair. Learn how to Prepare, Survive and Thrive, March 7, 2021, 11 am - 3 pm.  Keynote speakers include a seismologist, an infectious disease specialist, and the LAFD disaster preparedness officer. Click here for the flyer and how to register for free.

***BAHA Security Cameras at Work***    Recently BAHA’s new cameras got a real-world test and passed with flying colors.  On February 18th, a property crime incident occurred on Roscomare Road in the early morning hours.   Once a police report had been filed, BAHA spoke with LAPD and was able to provide the detective in charge of the case with camera footage of vehicles exiting our neighborhood shortly after the crime was committed. LAPD policy prohibits them from giving us any information regarding whether the camera footage led to an arrest until there has been a conviction or the case is otherwise closed, but we will continue to follow up with LAPD.  A big “Thank You!” to all our BAHA members who made these cameras possible with their membership dues, and a reminder to those who have not yet joined or renewed to please to do so, to do your part to keep our neighborhood safe! Thank you for your membership!

***Jet Noise Update***    In January 2021 the FAA finally released a Neighborhood Environmental Survey (NES) as part of many documents demanded by Congress in 2018. The admissions are shocking and that we are still suffering is even more so. We have an opportunity to submit comments by March 15th, please go to www.studiocityforquietskies.com for information and instructions. Remember to include that Van Nuys Airport is a major problem for our neighborhood. It is also very important that we fight the FAA changes in the courts. Please consider donating to the Save Our Skies Los Angeles lawsuit at www.sosla.org for details. Thank you!

***Potholes***    BAHA’s Traffic Committee has been reporting pothole problems using the MyLA311 service, and has found that reported potholes are generally repaired promptly.  Even though BAHA Traffic Committee reports potholes and other road irregularities, we encourage residents to report potholes when they see them since the Committee doesn’t see them all.  Below are access sites where you can report potholes: (also, these sites are also useful for all sorts of City Services).

***BAHA Website***   Please be sure to check out our Website at https://www.baha.la.  We have been working hard to upgrade and update the Website to provide useful information about BAHA, our neighborhood, and other local matters.  BAHA Website is still a work in progress, but we think you will find it helpful if you live in Bel Air Hills. And it is very easy to join or renew your BAHA membership on the website also so if you haven’t yet done so – please do!

***Delivered Packages***   Buying online has become increasingly popular, especially since the beginning of Covid-19 when health guidelines restricted in person shopping combined with the reluctance of many to shop in person even when permissible.  That means lots of packages delivered to local residences.  Unfortunately, that also means more thefts of these delivered packages.  Fortunately, there are many ways to ensure that your packages are not stolen (just do a search on the internet of how to protect against package theft).  Two good choices would be to either have the packages delivered to your business address, or use our local Bel Air Mailroom.   The Bel Air Mailroom is conveniently located across from the old Bel Air Market.  To see if that would help your online buying (by making package delivery more secure), contact Steve at the Bel Air Mailroom, 310-440-9326, BAHA members are given a 15% discount at the Bel Air Mailroom – another reason to join BAHA!
