***BAHA Annual Member's Meeting*** The BAHA Bylaws state that an annual meeting of its members shall be held in May.  The meeting was not held in 2020, due to Covid-19 restrictions.  This May, the meeting could not be held for the same reasons.  However, after June 15, it is hoped that the meetings can resume.  Since the annual meetings are held in the Roscomare Road Elementary School (RRES) auditorium, and since the school will be closed at that time, the Board voted to hold the meeting in September, after the school reopens.  Of course, the time and date of the meeting will be sent to members when plans are finalized.  The entire BAHA community will also be invited to attend the meeting, as always.  In the meantime, the current directors, who are required to stand for election at each annual meeting, are graciously continuing to serve.

***Neighborhood Council Elections*** Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Elections are being conducted entirely using Vote-By-Mail. If you requested a ballot, as required, you should have received it by now. Ballots may be dropped off at our designated dropbox on the street in front of the Barrington Recreation Center, 333 South Barrington Avenue at any time between Friday, June 4, 2021, at 9:00 am and Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 5:00 pm. Ballots must be postmarked by June 8 if sent in by USPS.

***Roscomare Road Street Resurfacing*** The May issue of Newsbites updated the community regarding the repaving work that is going to be done at the bumpy corner near 2613 and 2619 Roscomare Road.  BAHA had requested that if it is to be done before RRES is out for summer, that it be done only on the weekend. It now appears that the work will simply be postponed until RRES is out for the summer.  While BAHA, indeed, the whole community, has waited a long time for this work to be done, this short postponement will alleviate traffic nightmares for all residents.

***Ridgeline Protection Ordinance*** All residents in the BAHA area should have received a notice from the Los Angeles Planning Department concerning a virtual public hearing on the proposed Ridgeline Protection Ordinance.  The proposal will affect the BAHA geographical area, and so should be of great interest to the members of our community.  The hearing is to be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 pm.  The application of this Ordinance will result in a change of zoning for each parcel in the affected area.  BAHA is concerned about the potential application of the Ordinance to ridgelines that are already developed and how it would affect future development on those ridgelines.  For example, would the addition of a second story be prohibited?   The following is a link to information on the proposed Ordinance:  https://plancheckncla.com/2021/05/28/proposed-ridgeline-protection-ordinance.  There are attachments in this link that will provide as much information on this matter as you would like, including, of course, how to attend the virtual meeting.

***Package Thefts*** Although recent statistics suggest that crime in our area is low, package thefts continue to be a problem.  In the March 202 edition of Newsbites, it was suggested that two good choices might be to either have packages delivered to a business address, or to use the local Bel Air Mailroom, by setting up a PO Box so that the packages may be delivered there.   The Bel Air Mailroom is conveniently located across from the old Bel Air Market.  Contact Steve at the Bel Air Mailroom, 310-440-9326. If you are a BAHA member you will receive a 15% discount on your mailbox and all the Bel Air Mail Room services! Just another reason to become a BAHA member if you haven’t yet joined!

***Doggie Station*** BAHA has established and maintains a “doggie station” in the Roscomare park at the southern entrance to Bel Air Hills, for the convenience of dog walkers at the park or in nearby areas.  Please use these waste bags to keep the park clean for all to enjoy.  It’s always appreciated when dog walkers clean up after their pets.  It is hoped that the “doggie station” will help in this regard.  Thank you!
