***Membership Update*** BAHA’s annual membership drive is well under way and we encourage those of you who have not yet renewed your membership or made the decision to join BAHA, to do so now. You can either mail with your check payable to Bel Air Hills Association ($200 recommended, $175 minimum) to BAHA, 2337 Roscomare Road #2-228, Los Angeles, CA 90077, or go to our website at https://www.baha.la, and click on “Join BAHA.” If you do mail your check, please be sure to include both your street and email addresses. The website also contains more information about BAHA and how it serves the Bel Air Hills community. Please join, knowing that your membership is needed and that your participation is welcomed. Thank you.

***BAHA's Security Camera Policy*** As we have previously advised the community, BAHA has had security cameras installed by Flock (a leading national company providing security camera services) at strategic locations in our Bel Air Hills. We are hopeful that these cameras will deter crime and will help police in the event that there is a crime. BAHA’s Security Camera Committee has established a liaison with LAPD to utilize our camera footage.

Nevertheless, it is still incumbent upon all residents to take whatever steps they believe are necessary to protect their own personal security. Also, it is important for all residents of our community to review our policies and limitations with respect to the operation of these cameras. Go to https://www.baha.la/security-camera-policy.php.

***Architectural Review Committee*** The various Tracts that make up the Bel Air Hills, contain Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&R’s), which are applicable when building new, remodeling, or making improvements. The CC&R’s designate a committee appointed by BAHA to review compliance with the CC&R’s whenever there is new building, remodeling or the making of improvements. The CC&R’s require that at least one member of that committee must be an architect licensed under the laws of California. We have been fortunate to have some very excellent licensed architects to serve on the Committee. All Board members and all committee members, including the architects, are volunteers, giving time to their community. We would like to hear from some more licensed architects in Bel Air Hills that would like to volunteer from time to time to serve on the Committee, so that we can ease the burden on any one architect. Please let us know if you would be willing to so serve by emailing us at [email protected]. Thank you.

***Santa Monica Mountains Conservation Efforts*** On March 2nd the LA City Council directed the City to offer the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy the first right of refusal of hillside city-owned surplus property before future sales of such land.

***Emergency Preparedness Goal of the Month*** BAHA’s Emergency Preparedness Committee’s March preparedness goal of the month: Install "Black Out Buddies" in each of your rooms. It's a flash light that you plug in any outlet. It automatically lights up when you lose power. It's an invaluable tool when you lose power at night. They can be purchased any at drug store, electronics store, online, or the Red Cross website. They are inexpensive and highly valuable during black out emergencies.

***Fire Prevention Information*** Since fire is always a concern when living in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, which Bel Air Hills is designated, we thought it might be helpful to direct you to some important and useful fire prevention information. Here is a timely article from the Los Angeles Times, particularly since people living in fire prone areas are having a harder time finding affordable insurance for their homes — if they can find coverage at all.
