***Roscomare Road Elementary School (RRES) Opening—Increased Auto and Pedestrian Traffic Alert!***  RRES is scheduled to open for instruction on Monday, August 14. School hours will be between 8:15 a.m. and 2:43 p.m., with students arriving and departing at various times. Traffic around the school during those times will be difficult, especially during the first week of school. There will be many young children walking in the area on school days. Please drive with care to keep our young scholars safe. Thank you.

***Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project***  Metro reports that its subcontractor continues to perform required preliminary, limited geotechnical fieldwork to gather information on existing soil and rock conditions for the Draft Environmental Impact Report. This project has the potential for significant impacts to the Bel Air Hills community. It is important that our residents to stay informed and involved. To sign up for project updates, go to:

***Fire Season and Brush Clearance***  Fire season is here (although it is probably now year-round) and brush clearance is very important. As a reminder the late rains may have caused grass to grow after the May fire department inspections, and keeping dry grass less than 3 inches and brush cleared is a year-round requirement. Please see the rules regarding brush clearance:  https://www.lafd.org/fire-prevention/brush/brush-clearance-requirements.

***Bel Air Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council (BABCNC) Board Seat***  The BABCNC is seeking people interested in filling an empty Board Seat that represents the interests of private elementary schools (i.e., K-6) in BABCNC territory.  That would include schools such as John Thomas Dye and Stephen S. Wise Elementary Schools. The qualifications include being 18 years or older with a substantial connection to such an institution (i.e., parent, teacher/staff/administration, alum, etc.). Interested applicants should send an email to: [email protected]. As a reminder, the BABCNC is the Neighborhood Council that represents the area from Sunset to Mulholland, Sepulveda Blvd to Laurel Canyon Blvd. Neighborhood Councils were created by the City of Los Angeles to bridge the gap between communities and the City. They are advisory bodies who advocate for their communities with City Hall on issues of importance to their communities. Board members are considered part of City government but are volunteers.
