***Fall Festival—Save the Date***    BAHA’s annual Fall Festival will be held at Roscomare Park (south end of Roscomare Road) on Sunday, October 15, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Expect fun activities for the kids, treats for all, and good conversations with your neighbors.  All residents of Bel Air Hills are invited, regardless of whether or not you are a member of BAHA.  However, becoming a BAHA member is simple and easy by just going to our website at https://www.baha.la.

***Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project***   Earlier this year Metro held a number of public forums to obtain community input regarding the proposed alternatives for the project.  The project includes heavy rail rapid transit (a subway) or a monorail line.  The feedback from the public forums as summarized by Metro was that there was “support for both heavy rail and monorail options with more support leaning toward heavy rail technology. Many comments emphasized the need for easy and direct connections between the future Sepulveda line and the Metro D Line (Purple) at Wilshire and the Metro E Line (Expo). Additionally, there was strong support for the line to have a station on the UCLA campus.

***BAHA Security Cameras***   BAHA currently has security cameras posted at the principal entrances to Bel Air Hills.  Our Security Committee reports that since the beginning of 2023, BAHA has been contacted 8 times by local residents and twice by LAPD requesting BAHA to review footage regarding some form of criminal activity. Since June 1st, there have been no requests and per our LAPD representative, the cameras are definitely proactive and preventative.  According to LAPD, criminals choose neighborhoods that do not have the type of security surveillance cameras that BAHA uses.

***Road Work Update***   In the April, 2023, edition of Newsbites, we informed you that after many years of BAHA’s repeated requests, street resurfacing for Anzio and Brownwood would take place soon, possibly even as soon as during that April, but expected to be done by the end of the fiscal year (i.e., June 30).  At least that was what the city told us then.  As the residents on those streets know, the work has still not been done.  The city has now informed us as follows: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Anzio Rd between Roscomare Rd to D/E W/O Roscomare Rd and Brownwood Pl between Roscomare Rd to D/E W/O Roscomare Rd, were rescheduled.  The new tentative dates are as follows:

  • Anzio Rd between Roscomare Rd to D/E W/O Roscomare Rd is tentatively scheduled to start on Monday September 18, 2023
  • Brownwood Pl between Roscomare Rd to D/E W/O Roscomare Rd is tentatively scheduled to start on Thursday September 21, 2023”

***Refuse Bin Placement and Removal***   It is in the interest of all homeowners in Bel Air Hills to follow the rules regarding refuse collection bins for curbside pickup.  L.A. Sanitation states that: “For single family residences, bins must be placed at the curb by 6:00am on the day of collection, and removed no later than 8:00pm on the day of collection. If you're able, please place bins 6-12 inches apart and 6-12 inches from the curb or other solid objects” These bins should be placed for curbside pickup no earlier than the day before scheduled pickup, and then removed by 8:00 pm on the day of pickup.  Thank you for your cooperation in following L.A. Sanitation rules and maintaining curbs free of unsightly bins the rest of the time.
